Stopped in at the Yamak boutique on Bleecker Street the other day and was so happy to find so many great fall items there at great price points. The owner and designer of the store, Kanako, was so gracious and we had fun picking out pieces and taking pictures. If you are ever in the neighborhood, be sure to stop by! How much do you love these leather shorts?!?! This fashionista styled them to perfection with a muted blazer, bag and shoes. Leather is hot this fall and right now these shorts are the perfect way to transition into the cooler weather. Well done!

J's Picks for Fall :: the Shearling Jacket

I almost hit the floor when I saw this jacket. I think when living in a pedestrian city, your winter coat should be a wise and well thought investment. It's really the only thing that people will see while out and about in the cold months. For me, the coat has to be streamlined and not bulky. Having said that, it's not always easy to find something fashionable and warm...until I tried this jacket. The leather has an amazing patina to it- immediate coolness factor!  It's also tailored just right so I don't look like an Eskimo but warm enough that I know I won't be freezing when the temps really start to dip.  Now, I don't expect this to be my everyday coat. When I'm in full on mom mode, I've got a fur lined parka and when I'm working, I use my classic Searle shearling. This will be my go to piece for when I'm going on a date night, having drinks with the girls, or when I've got that elusive moment when I can leisurely roam around the city and just want to look fabulous! For the Kids: Jersey Shore Pirates

Need to get out of the city with the kids for a day? Look no further for a swashbuckling adventure is just an hour and a half away! Jersey Shore Pirates is a family experience like no other. The kids get dressed up as pirates including tattoos and face painting and then board the Sea Gypsy for an ride along the Metedeconk River. There they learn pirate lingo, water cannon Pirate Pete and search for a buried treasure. It was a great morning and even my girly girl enjoyed the trip. This family experience is very popular so reservations are a must. Hurry though because they will only set sail until October 28th! xxj

P.S. If you want a full day of it, Windward Beach Park is right next door. It's a great spot for a picnic. There is also a swimming beach there and a jungle gym right on the sand!

The fashionable were out in full force as they got the chance to shop in the new space and mingle with the buyers and designers. True to the principles behind the brand, the fall collection was full of wearable, sophisticated clothing perfect for the on-the-go lifestyle.
