Wear it: Don't Bear it

Toby Milstein launched this fashion meets humanitarian/political initiative to support survivors and victims' families of gun violence in light of the shootings in Aurora and most recently that in Newtown. She designed and produced these special necklaces and now bracelets with the slogan Wear it:Don't Bear it. 100% of the profits go to an organization, the Bereaved Parents of the USA which is a nation-wide organization dedicated to helping parents and families who have lost children.

The charm comes in sterling silver and gold and is for a worthy cause. I went with gold and you will see me wearing my charm PROUD in the next few posts.

1969 Legging Skimmer Jeans

I am in love with Gap's Legging Skimmer Jean. They come in all these bright fun colors for spring. I went with the citrus green. I cuffed them and wore my favorite Zara booties. Psst, Gap's Friends and Family started today and you can get them for 30% off, using the coupon code GAPFRIENDS!

The Sophisticated Cover Up

Thinking of my upcoming holiday in the Caribbean. I basically live in kaftans and tunics when I'm on an island. They are super comfortable and let you go from poolside to the restaurant in a flash. My favorites are from Allegra Hicks, like the one above and Roberta Freymann. Here are a few other options! xxi

J's Spring Wish List

Cynthia Vincent New Jacobean Henley
I always love a great printed blouse and the tunic is my pick once the weather gets warmer. I fell for the color and print on this Cynthia Vincent. I plan to pair it with white jeans like above and colored shorts for when it's warmer.

Current Elliot Stiletto Jean in Shredded
I loved the distressed jean. It's been done in the boyfriend cut (see my post from last year here) in the last few seasons but the trend has been so well taken that designers are now making it a sleeker cut. My favorite pair are from Current Elliot. They are really skinny and cropped making it perfect for virtually any shoe. I'm going to wear with sandals to stilettos!

Maje Ananas Dress
Black and white is in in a big way this spring. I'm usually tired of this combo after wearing it all winter but this dress can convince me to do otherwise. I love the dropwaist silhouette and the graphic pattern. The two combined feel fresh and a perfect way to interpret in the trend.

Jenny Bird Netted Tote
A tote is absolutely essential for me once the warm weather hits. I can't bear to stay in my apartment when the sun is shining so I am out all day and need a bag big enough to fit all my stuff! This one from Jenny Bird is fits the bill while also being ridiculously stylish.

Aquazurra Amazon Lace Up Bootie
Well, I need not say more about Aquazzura, see Monday's post here. A new love affair (more like stalking obsession) has begun!

It goes without saying that I have a ridiculous penchant for well made footwear. Some may even say that I am a shoe snob. I blame my mother, who also happened to be a Filipino Imelda, but with a heart of gold. She always told me that I should invest in a good shoe. So I've spent the last of 15 years consorting with the likes of Manolo, Jimmy and Christian. They are all going to have to move on over because I have just met Edgardo and I think I am in love. Edgardo Osorio is the designer behind Aquazzura. If you haven't heard of it yet, well get ready for a thrill. The shoes are exquisitely made, unconventionally sophisticated and well, just hot. And as if it couldn't get any better, they are COMFORTABLE!

Here are a few of my favorites from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I've managed to get the last pair of Amazon's at Saks a few weeks ago. My sales guy says the collection flew off the shelf. Don't worry though, he also tells me they are on re-order!

Musuem of Math

Last weekend my son and I visited The Museum of Mathematics located at 11 East 26th Street in Manhattan. He was engaged for hours. It is two floors of exhibits with different patterns and structures. Your child will be instantly amused and they won't realize that they are learning, while playing. If you are looking for something to do with your kids, definitely check this place out. I was so excited of my new find that I bought a membership during our first trip! xo, 5th
