What I'm Reading Now (and hope to read in 2014!)

I'm almost done with prepping for Christmas and have taken care of everyone on my list. Hoping to have some down time over my little holiday break. I'm looking forward to curling up next to a fire with a cup of tea and great book. I'm in the middle of reading The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman now and really enjoying it. Here's my booklist for 2014. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know! xxj

The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman

I'm a huge fan of historical fiction. This story is about four fiercely strong women who face the anguish and hardship while living in Masada after being driven out of Jerusalem by the Romans. Alice Hoffman masterfully paints the characters so that they truly come to life. I've got about a quarter of the book left and I'm anxious to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

The Empress of Fashion by Amanda Mackenzie Stuart

Being a fashionphile, this is a must for me. Diana Vreeland was one of the most influential women of her time and her perspective on fashion still resonates today.

The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls

Not much to say except that if this is anything like her other two books, I won't be sleeping very much until I'm done!

Paris by Edward Rutherford

Again, love my historical fiction. Edward Rutherford writes sweeping novels that span years and generations in famous cities. I've already read New York and found it highly entertaining to envision my city as it progressed over 300 years. Paris is next on my list, followed by London and Russia.
